A FORMER professional rugby player is hoping he can tackle players at Holyrood Academy into becoming a premier rugby playing educational establishment in the region.
Simon Jenkins has been appointed as the head of the academy's newly established Rugby Academy, exclusively for the school's students.
As well as playing professionally for Exeter Cheifs, Newport Gwent Dragons and Doncaster Knights, he also represented Wales at U19 and U21.
Simon is also head coach at Chard RFC and brings with him coaching qualifications.
He said: “Ultimately my vision is for Holyrood Academy to be the premier rugby playing educational establishment in the region for both boys and girls.
“There is a three to five year plan in place to achieve this.
Every player will receive the best possible coaching to help them achieve their potential both on the field and in the classroom.
“There is so much talent in every age group at Holyrood and the opportunity to develop this, coupled with a headteacher who is so committed to raising the standards of sport in the Academy, is very exciting."
