A FLOOD alert has been issued which could impact areas surrounding Glastonbury.
Following the heavy rainfall which took place last night (Tuesday, February 6), water levels have risen on the River Brue.
The Gov.UK website says that the areas most at risk include the B3151 Glastonbury to Meare Road.
Overtopping is likely from the Glastonbury Millstream, as well as the River Brue at North Drain and Westhay.
Upstream at Bruton Dam, the River Brue is forecast to be bankfull. It's likely that there will be some field flooding.
Sheppey is also included in the flood alert areas.
Residents are urged not to drive through flood water and to avoid low-lying footpaths where possible.
Additionally, you should avoid crossing bridges near local watercourses.
River levels are expected to fall later today, but then rise again on Thursday.
