Counties 1 Tribute Western West: Penryn 20-10 Wiveliscombe

WIVELISCOMBE 1stXV deserved to get something from this league encounter in Cornwall after a spirited performance but the home team team had the edge in the backs scoring four tries to Wiveys two, writes Roger Bellamy.

The game was brought to an early end after a mass brawl broke out with five minutes still to play.

Penryn led 15pts 5pts at half time scoring three tries through their wingers, Ayden Earnshaw crossed for two with opposite wing Matt Hall opening the scoring in the first quarter.

Second row Matt Page finished off a good spell of pressure by Wivey close to Penryn's try line to close the score to 10pts 5pts  before the home team crossed for their third.

Playing with  strong wind in the second half both teams created chances but passing the ball became increasingly difficult limiting each team to one more try each.

Matt Hall crossed for his second try of the game for the home team and centre Will Thorne scored Wivey's second try of the match after the visitors best move of the game covering sixty metres.

Neither team were successful with place kicking in the difficult wind and at full time the score was 20-10.

There are no matches next Saturday, 25th. 1stXV play Falmouth home on 2nd December. 2ndXV play Bridgwater 2ndXV away.
